Martin Currie helps shape the future of finance

Martin Currie sponsors conference designed to encourage school girls to consider a career in finance

25 September 2017

Martin Currie was proud to sponsor the FUTURE AS5ET conference held in Edinburgh on 22 September. A one day conference for secondary school fifth year girls from across Scotland, aiming to underline the fact that gender should never be seen as a barrier to progressing in whatever career they choose, especially the finance industry. Two of Martin Currie’s female employees attended the conference. Claire Marwick, from the Japanese team and Sheena Kelman, Project Lead, MIFID II, joined other inspirational delegates to network and share their experiences with the next generation of female finance professionals.

Laura McCall, Head of HR at Martin Currie, noted:

We are delighted to be sponsoring this conference. Martin Currie places great importance on financial education. For example, we have a learning partnership with Galashiels Academy, and offer internship and graduate programmes. We actively promote a learning culture in all areas of our business with a continuous programme of education, coaching, measurement and reflection. We believe that encouraging learning and empowering individuals to embrace a growth mindset provides a great environment for continuous development and success.

Martin Currie is also a founding partner and an active member of Didasko – a financial education charity and the main partner of the FUTURE AS5ET conference.
