Matthew joined Martin Currie Australia in August 1997. Matthew is responsible for implementing the investment process within the portfolio constraints and investment guidelines. He has a strong grounding in mathematics and statistics combined with previous engineering experience, as well as comprehensive knowledge of risk and alpha models. Prior to this role, he was a quantitative analyst at the firm, during which time he back-tested valuation, earnings growth and revision signals in support of the equity investment process. Matthew has also implemented automated equity portfolio construction and asset allocation optimiser tools. Before joining the firm, Matthew held a range of engineering and quantitative roles in photographic manufacturing, software development, document imaging and aerospace. Matthew has a bachelor of engineering (honours in electrical) from the University of Melbourne, and holds a masters in applied finance and investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.
