Martin Currie, the active equity specialist and steward of £13.7 billion (US$18.8 billion)* in assets under management as at Jan. 31, 2021, will add Susan H. Gim to its New York office on March 1. Martin Currie is a specialist investment manager of Franklin Templeton.
As a Client Portfolio Manager, Gim will partner with Franklin Templeton’s distribution team to promote Martin Currie’s strategies in the U.S. market. Drawing on her previous experience as an analyst and a portfolio manager, she will also produce thoughtful content to use globally. She reports to Mark Cho, CFA, Head of U.S. Intermediary Business and Client Portfolio Manager.
Gim was most recently a portfolio manager at Caxton Associates, where she managed long/short equity portfolios. Prior to that, she was a portfolio manager at SAC Capital Advisors, where she managed a long/short equity portfolio covering the entirety of the Asia sector. Her previous roles include senior Asia analyst at Kingdon Capital and vice president / financial sector head at Oaktree/Moon Capital, where she began her career in finance in 2003. She has a B.A. degree government, awarded cum laude, from Harvard College in Cambridge, MA.

Martin Currie has seen significant growth in the U.S. market. U.S. clients account for 28%** of the firm’s current AUM, which quadrupled over three years to US$5.1 billion in January 2021 from US$1.2 billion in January 2018.
