As Head of Research for the Martin Currie Australia (MCA) Investment team, Michael has oversight of the research function within the investment team alongside his research coverage of materials and energy.
Michael is also the co-Portfolio Manager for MCA’s Value Equity and Equity Income strategies.
Michael joined MCA’s predecessor firm in December 1993 in various research and analyst roles, after working in London and Melbourne with CS First Boston.
Over his extensive tenure, Michael considers his part in helping to build MCA’s income capabilities as one of his most memorable contributions. He continues to focus on strong portfolio construction for clients and supporting the research and investment capabilities of the team.
Prior to joining the finance industry, Michael started as a mining engineer at Mount Isa Mines (MIM), gaining significant industry experience in the mining sector which allows him to better understand the key drivers of resource companies.
Michael has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) and Economics from the University of Queensland, and is a CFA® charterholder.
On the leisure side, Michael has a self-confessed golf obsession, and his personal objective in life is to play all the top 100 golf courses around the world.
